Product Legislation: Market success for innovative and sustainable products

Every year, numerous dangerous products enter the EU Single Market that do not comply with EU regulations. With the upcoming European Elections, the TÜV Association shows how trust in safe and sustainable products can be created.

The non-compliant products listed in the EU Safety Gate only represent the tip of the iceberg of all potentially dangerous products, as market surveillance has insufficient enforcement power due to limited resources and the rapidly increasing online trade. The growing digitalisation is also creating new risk potentials, particularly with regard to IT security and data protection.  Moreover, products must be designed to be more sustainable and circular in future. In the last years, the EU legislator has established comprehensive legal requirements that manufacturers  must meet. The actual compliance of products on the market is thereby decisive for a level playing field.

What to do

  • Build trust in safe and sustainable products
  • Apply the risk-based approach consistently
