Boost further training rate – for a future-proof and resilient Europe

With a well-coordinated training policy, the EU can counter the shortage of skilled workers and the constant need for new skills. The recommendations of the TÜV Association for the new EU legislative period.

The TÜV academies are among the largest private training providers in Germany. The latest TÜV further education study shows: For 92 percent of German companies, further education and  training is an important factor for competitiveness. However, the vast majority does not spend more than 2,000 euros per person per year on this. Skilled labour is also a key success factor for  82 percent of SMEs across the EU: Soft skills are (rather) important for 68 percent, digital skills for 62 percent and green skills for 44 percent of companies (Eurobarometer 2023). Skilled  labour and skills shortages are adoption hurdles for artificial intelligence and the transformation towards a more sustainable economy (Cedefop 2023). EU policy on further education and  training can complement the efforts of Member States to meet these challenges for the digital and green transition.
